Meet the One Cow Standing Team
Nickie Buckner, BSME, MCS
Co-Founder of One Cow Standing
Nickie hails from the Asheville area of North Carolina. He graduated from North Carolina State University in 1997 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Computer Programming. After working for a year in the automotive industry, he returned to NCSU for his Masters in Computer Science.
Nickie has over 20 years of experience designing and building enterprise systems for large corporations across many different industry sectors. He developed the workplace inspection system used by the New York Compensation Insurance Rating Board; the inspection system used by Shaw Industries in all of their distribution centers in North America; He designed the security system for CitcoOne™, Citco Group Limited’s web platform for their customer financial services; He built vehicle booking widgets for Avis Budget Group’s Asia/Pacific airline partners such as Air China, Air New Zealand, Japan Airways and Qantas.
Outside of work, Nickie enjoys eschewing the immediacy of the Digital Age in favor of working with letterpress equipment from the early 1900s.

How One Cow Standing Works
One Cow Standing (OCS) believes that custom software can solve problems, make life easier, and provide a positive benefit to society.
To do this, OCS designs and delivers mHealth interventions end-to-end, including system architecture, code, deployment, scale, performance, and quality, from conception to delivery.
Knowing that one size solutions rarely work, OCS’s software methodology encompasses a hybrid of best practices from the field. These include waterfall methodology to ensure clear requirements and objectives, lean thinking, along with agile and scrum methodologies to improve efficiency and innovation by testing, fixing, and enhancing elements early on in the process, and rapid application development for time sensitivity.
